Grand Jury Prize for SHAME AND MONEY at Sundance Film Festival
The award-winning films of the competition sections were announced at a ceremony at the Ray Theatre in Park City, Utah, during the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Friday. The jury and the award-winning artists attended the ceremony before the festival ended on February 1. The 2026 festival featured premieres, screenings, lectures, events, and more in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, including a program honoring Robert Redford and his vision, which has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema worldwide.
In the World Cinema Dramatic Competition, the Grand Jury Prize was awarded to the German drama SHAME AND MONEY (DE/XK/SVN/ALB/MKD/BEL) by Visar Morina, produced by Schuldenberg Films and Vicky Bane.
Jury citation: "For his powerful and unique portrayal of human dignity in contemporary Kosovo that universally resonates. A sensitive filmmaker who masterfully draws the audience into the daily struggles of a family. For his deep empathy for his characters in a crucial moment in which they are beginning again, the World Cinematic Grand Jury Prize goes to SHAME AND MONEY".
Visar Morina's drama SHAME AND MONEY is about a Kosovar family that has lost its livelihood. They are now forced to move from their village to the capital to find a place in a hyper-capitalist society. A story, as the title suggests, about shame and money.
