Germany in focus at this year's FIDLab in Marseille
FIDMarseille is an international film festival held annually in the heart of Marseille. Its programme includes numerous world and international premieres and presents around one hundred films, ranging from fiction and documentary films to artists’ films, shorts and feature-length works. FID is a major festival for independent cinema, internationally recognised for its key role in discovering new talent and groundbreaking cinematic work.
Each edition is accompanied by FIDLab, an international co-production platform. On July 9 and 10, FIDLab will bring filmmakers together with producers, funding institutions, broadcasters, distributors and international sales agents. Since 2019, FIDLab has placed a particular country in the spotlight each year, introducing key production companies from the contemporary film landscape. Following Bulgaria, Greece, Belgium, Portugal, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Poland, this year’s edition will focus on Germany. Three German producers have been invited to participate in the “German Focus”: Julia Cöllen of Fünferfilm, Maximilian Haslberger of Amerikafilm and Linus Günther of Klinkerfilm.
The focus provides an opportunity to explore a region through its most recent productions and its film industry. In this context, the three German producers are invited to present their current projects and take part in industry discussions as part of FIDLab. The programme also offers an opportunity to establish new contacts and deepen future collaboration.
The “German Focus” is organised with the support of German Films, the Goethe Institute and the German Consulate in Marseille.
