KINO! FILM SALON: EVERYONE ELSE BY MAREN ADE

The focus of the next session for the English-language KINO! FILM SALON online film club on April 16th will be on Maren Ade’s EVERYONE ELSE. The feature film was part of the Official Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009 – and lead actress Birgit Minichmayr received the Jury Award and Best Actress Award.

FACE TO FACE PANEL AND UPCOMING SERIES FROM GERMANY SHOWCASE AT SERIES MANIA

At this year’s series conference Series Mania in Lille, France, German Films hosted two events.

The COMING NEXT FROM GERMANY series showcase was a huge success and opened the festival on day one with a full house. Malko Solf and Gerhard Maier from @seriencamp_conference moderated on stage. Panelists from five series were present to discuss their shows.

AWARDS AND PREMIERES AT THE CLERMONT-FERRAND SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

After two pandemic editions, the 45th International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand (France) returned to a completely in-person event from 27 January to 4 February 2023 with the physical market and the usual number of international industry guests. The German-French cooperation program SOIRÉE ALLEMANDE/SHORT EXPORT celebrated its premiere.

GERMAN SHORT FILMS 2023 – ONLINE CATALOGUE

Since 2022, the catalogue "German Short Films" has only been published in an online version. The step from print to web made it possible to update the catalogue throughout the year: in January (Clermont-Ferrand/Berlin), in May (Cannes/Annecy) and in October (Leipzig/Torino TSFM). All of the catalogue films can be viewed online by registered users from the industry.

KINO! GERMANY NOW!

The German Film Office in New York is pleased to announce the second edition of its KINO! Germany NOW! film program. From April through June 2023, theaters and festivals across the United States are invited to present a curated selection of new films from Germany to in-person audiences. The program includes five striking examples of dazzling talent that continues to emerge from one of the world’s great cinematic traditions.

OFF TO THE MOVIES! - THIRD EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF GERMAN FILM IN ROME

In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and the German Embassy in Rome, the 3rd edition of the Festival del Cinema Tedesco took place at Cinema Quattro Fontane.

Here, the Italian film-savvy audience could experience and enjoy new German films from March 16 to 19, 2023.

GERMAN STUDENT SHORTS SUCCESSFUL AT THE ANNIE AWARDS AND VES AWARDS 2023

The Annie Awards, organized by the International Animated Film Society ASIFA-Hollywood since 1972, honor the best international achievements in the field of animation. For the 50th edition, the German animated short THE MOST BORING GRANNY IN THE WHOLE WORLD by Damaris Zielke (Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg) received a nomination in the category “Best Student Film”. The Visual Effects Society presented the winners of the 21st VES Awards during a gala event in Los Angeles on 15 February. The German short film A CALLING. FROM THE DESERT. TO THE SEA by Murad Abu Eisheh (Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg) won in the category “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project”

KINO23 IN TURKEY
As part of the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival, the Goethe Institut Turkey, with the support of German Films, opens a new edition of the German Film Week in Turkey: KINO23. The first part of the program, which will be screened from April 25-30 in the new Sinematek/Sinemaevi Kadiköy, will take place right after the Istanbul Film Festival. Some titles of the program, such as highlights of the Berlinale - AFIRE by Christian Petzold or INGEBORG BACHMANN : JOURNEY INTO THE DESERT by Margarethe von Trotta - will already be screened there.  
More titles of the current program will be published soon on the Goethe Institut website.

THE 10TH TYSKE FILMDAGE will take place in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense from April 23-26.
The festival opens its 10th edition with THE FORGER by Maggie Peren. Berlinale highlights such as MEASURES OF MEN by Lars Kraume or SOMEDAY WE'LL TELL EACH OTHER EVERYTHING by Emily Atef will also be screened at the Grand Teatret.
