German Films supported the German Oscar® nominees in Los Angeles, who received nominations in different categories. Two days before the gala German Films held a reception to celebrate the team of THE TEACHERS' LOUNGE by İlker Çatak, the team of PERFECT DAYS by Wim Wenders, the team of FOUR DAUGHTERS by Kaouther Ben Hania, and actor Sandra Hüller who was nominated for ANATOMY OF A FALL by Justine Triet.

At Series Mania Forum, the industry section of Europe’s biggest festival for series content, Series Mania Festival, German Films was represented with a one-hour panel called  FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN TALENTS.

GERMAN FILMS AT CARTOON MOVIE BORDEAUX

The 26th edition of Cartoon Movie, the pitching and co-production forum, opened its doors in Bordeaux from March 5 to 7, 2024. It brought the whole of European creativity and diversity in animation to the screen and stage, with adventurous projects and passionate teams.

FOURTH EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF GERMAN FILMS IN ROME

In cooperation with the Goethe Institute and the German Embassy in Rome, the 4th edition of the Festival del Cinema Tedesco took place at Cinema Quattro Fontane from March 14 to 17, 2024. The opening film FALLING INTO PLACE by Aylin Tezel was presented by the director herself and won the audience award.

70 YEARS OF GERMAN FILMS - A RETROSPECTIVE IN FILMS

In 2024, German Films celebrates its 70th anniversary. As part of this anniversary, we will be reviewing impressive and outstanding German films throughout the whole year in our monthly newsletter - all curated and evaluated by Oliver Baumgarten.
The March movie is from 1971 - the avant-garde film IT IS NOT THE HOMOSEXUAL WHO IS PERVERSE, BUT THE SOCIETY IN WHICH HE LIVES by Rosa von Praunheim.

Award for THE AMAZING MAURICE
Among the winners of the British Animation Awards 2024 was THE AMAZING MAURICE by Toby Genkel (DE/UK, Ulysses Filmproduktion). The animation film was nominated in two categories - Best Feature Animation and Best Voice Performance - and won in the latter. The British Animation Awards 2024 winners were announced at a fun-filled ceremony at the BFI South Bank on the evening of March 7th, 2024. 

 

Locarno Film Festival: Submissions Open for Networking Program Match Me!
Heading into its 9th edition, Locarno Pro's networking initiative Match Me! is looking for emerging producers. The platform, aimed to strengthen the participants’ international network within the film industry, is welcoming producers with 2 to 5 years of experience from the countries of its partner organizations to apply. The program takes place at the 77th Locarno Film Festival during its industry program Locarno Pro (August 8 to 13, 2024).
