The 30th Festival du Cinéma Allemand took place in Paris from October 8-12, 2025. The anniversary event was hosted in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Paris and with the support of ARTE and the DFJW/OFAJ.
The Franco-German Film meeting returned to the Goethe Institute in Paris and took place on October 8+9, 2025. Over 200 French and German film professionals came together for two intense days of exchange on the current challenges of co-production and story development.
From September 18-24, 2025, the Festival de Cine Alemán celebrated its 25th anniversary at Cinépolis Recoleta in Buenos Aires. Once again, cinephiles of all ages could discover a diverse selection of 15 films covering the entire spectrum of German cinema. Face to Face ambassador and cameraman Tim Kuhn traveled to Argentina and attended the festival as a guest of honor.
In October, German Films was represented at various events in Asia. International film festivals took place in Busan and Tokyo. German Film Weeks were also celebrated in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
The 41st edition of Warsaw International Film Festival (WFF) took place from October 10-19, 2025. The film festival featured over 160 films this year. Twelve German productions and co-productions were represented in various sections.
DAS FILMFEST Czech Republic brought new films, prominent guests, and visual experiences to Czech cinemas. The first part featured films shown in Prague and Brno. In November, films will also be shown in Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem. German Films is a long-standing partner of the festival.
From October 9-19, 2025, the 14th Sehenswert Film Festival took place in Budapest. Actor Mehmet Ateşçi, who starred in the opening film WHAT MARIELLE KNOWS by Frédéric Hambalek, was present, introducing the film to the audience at Kino Puskin.
Face to Face with German Films ambassador and actor Thea Ehre travelled to Budapest to present her latest film THE LIGHT by Tom Tykwer in an engaging Q&A with the audience on October 18, 2025.
As in previous years, German Films hosted the GERMAN PAVILION at this year’s MIPCOM in Cannes. The umbrella booth has existed since 2006 and was organized together with seven partners at the Festival Palais.
Animation Germany is launching its online catalog “Who's Who Animation from Germany”. The catalogue is a central platform for the German animation industry. Moreover, the online offering has been expanded and now includes a new education section.

The European Film Academy published the shortlist for the 38th European Film Awards. We are delighted that six German films have made it onto the shortlist. We would be very pleased if as many members of the European Film Academy as possible would take part in the voting.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored its student winners at the 52st Student Academy Awards® ceremony, where German director Tobias Eckerlin won Gold with his film A SPARROW'S SONG.
Ameer Fakher Eldin’s second feature film YUNAN has won this year’s Arab Critics' Award for European Films at the El Gouna Film Festival. The award is presented by European Film Promotion (EFP) in collaboration with the Arab Cinema Center (ACC).
Black Nights Stars, a program that highlights up-and-coming actors, has announced its selection of eight promising young talents for 2025. German actor Samirah Breuer has been selected as one of the Black Nights Stars 2025 of PÖFF - Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, spotlighting her as a rising talent from KRANK BERLIN (BERLIN ER), THE DISCOUNTER, SCHATTENSEITE and other productions.
The next session of KINO! FILM SALON online film club on November 16th will be PINA (3D) by Wim Wenders. Wenders' masterpiece celebrated its world premiere at Berlin International Film Festival in 2011.

66th Crakow Film Festival: October heralds, among other things, the opening of the call for submissions for documentary and short films for next year's edition of Crakow Film Festival, which will run from May 31 to June 7, 2026. The selection committee welcomes documentary films (50 minutes and longer) and short films (up to 30 minutes) from around the world. Submissions for the four competitions will be accepted in two phases: until November 30, 2025 for films completed before October 31, 2025 (for both international and Polish films), and until January 31, 2026 (for international films). CPH:FORUM 2026: CPH:DOX’s international financing and co-production event CPH:FORUM is open for entries, accepting projects until November 5, 2025. CPH:FORUM takes place during CPH:DOX from March 17-19, 2026. CPH:FORUM presents 30 carefully selected documentary projects in various stages of development and production. The event is dedicated to supporting creative and visually strong film projects at the intersection of non-fiction, fiction, visual art, journalism and science. Visions du Réel: Visions du Réel is accepting film and project submissions for its 2026 edition, which will take place from April 17–26, 2026 in Nyon, Switzerland. The call currently includes opportunities for completed films seeking world, international or European premieres for the 57th edition of Visions du Réel, as well as new projects seeking financing and creative support to participate in the 24th edition of VdR–Industry. Torino FeatureLab 2026: FeatureLab is a training program dedicated to 1st and 2nd feature film projects from all over the world, at an advanced stage of development. Duration is from June until November 2026. The program comprises two week-long residential modules (June and November) and one online module (September). German Films Umbrella Booth at the American Film Market German Films will once again be present at the last major film market of the year. The American Film Market will return to Los Angeles (November 11-16, 2025), taking place as a face-to-face event at Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City for the first time. Six German world sales companies will be on board in their hotel suites on the 3rd floor, welcoming international buyers and distributors from all around the world: Beta Cinema (Suite 340), Epsilon (Suite 338), Kinostar (Suite 330), Picture Tree International (Suite 332), The Playmaker Munich (Suite 336), Sola Media (Suite 334).
