Three German competition entries among the prize-winners ar the 31st Giffoni Children's Film Festival

No less than three of the six German competition films were prize-winners in the competition at this year's Giffoni International Film Festival (Italy, 14-21.7.2001), one of the most important events worldwide for films for children and young people.

 

The section juries at the Giffoni Film Festival consist of children and young people of various age groups. They awarded the following prizes to German productions:

 

The two German competition entries received awards in the section "Early Screens" for children between eight and eleven years: DER MISTKERL by Andrea Katzenberger won the second prize, and THE SHARK AND THE PIANO by Gabriele Pennacchioli was awarded the "Silver Gryphon", the festival's main prize in this section, as Best Short.

 

The second prize of the section "Rear Window" for young people between 15 and 19 years was awarded to ALASKA.DE by Esther Gronenborn.

 

In addition, "Rear Window" presented CRAZY by Hans-Christian Schmid and SUN ALLEY (SONNENALLEE) by Leander Haussmann, while the "Free to Fly" sidebar for young people between 12 and 14 years featured the short KLEINE FISCHE by Holger Ernst
