The German-Dutch-Czech-French co-production KURT GERRON'S KARUSSELL documents the fate of the Jewish actor and director Kurt Gerron in Germany under National Socialism.

Other winners from Germany were the nature documentary KRANICH UND LACHS - JAPANS TIERWELT AN FLUSS UND SEE by Shinichi Murata (German co-producers NDR Naturfilm and Studio Hamburg Fernseh Allianz), winner of the "NHK President's Prize", and the sports documentary GOLDRAUSCH by Johan Asard and Folke Rydén (German co-producer ZDF) which received a Jury Special Prize.

Banff is Canada's most important festival for television productions and, in addition, is internationally one of the leading events in the field of television. Altogether, nine German programmes and seven German-international co-productions were nominated this year for the "Banff Rocky Awards".
