THE FESTIVAL OF GERMAN FILMS IN MADRID IS SET TO GROOVE

THE FESTIVAL OF GERMAN FILMS IN MADRID IS SET TO GROOVE

In keeping with the motto "If you got it, flaunt it", the 21st edition of the Festival of German Cinema in Madrid (June 4 - 9, 2019) will be drawing from a wide range of creative resources for its film line-up and musical supporting programme. The Madrid audience will be able to enjoy the latest German productions and meet with German filmmakers at the Palacio de la Prensa cinema.

Six-time Lola winner GUNDERMANN continues its triumphant success: The film will open the Festival of German Films with the director Andreas Dresen and lead actor Alexander Scheer in attendance. Afterwards, the audience will be treated to a concert by Dresen and Scheer with the songs of the musician Gerhard Gundermann.

The German box-office success ALL ABOUT ME (Spanish distributor: Wanda), with FACE TO FACE talent Luise Heyer from this year's campaign, as well as the secret service thriller BLAME GAME (Spanish distributor: Flyns y Piniculas), with the FACE TO FACE stars Ronald Zehrfeld and Alexander Fehling from the 2016 campaign, will have their avant-premieres during the festival.

Q&As will be held after the screenings of Yasemin Şamdereli's NIGHT OF ALL NIGHTS and Annekatrin Hendel's BEAUTY AND DECAY, and director Erik Schmitt and his lead actress Marleen Lohse will also be coming to Madrid to present CLEO in person.

German Films' short film programme NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER will be screened here almost straight after its world premiere during the Cannes Film Festival.

This year will see the Goethe Institut programming a sidebar on "Art Act: Daring to Be Creative and Trying Not To Fall Over In The Process".
