Several awards for German films in Canada

The 1st Festival International de Films de Montréal and the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival both came to a close last weekend. Several German films received awards at these events.

Last weekend saw the IRIS OF TOMORROW for the best debut being presented to the Russian-German co-production POLUMGLA by Artem Antonov at the closing ceremony of the 1st Festival International de Films de Montréal under the direction of Moritz de Hadeln. The documentary jury attributed a Special Mention to WINTER'S CHILDREN - THE SILENT GENERATION (WINTERKINDER - DIE SCHWEIGENDE GENERATION) by Jens Schanze.

 

The Ottawa International Animation Film Festival also wrapped at the same time. Several awards went to films from Germany:

 

The GRAND PRIZE FOR COMMISSIONED ANIMATION was picked up by Andreas Hykade for his Die Toten Hosen music video WALKAMPF .

 

In the short film competition, the first prize in the category of „Experimental/Abstract Work“ was awarded to the film _grau by Robert Seidel. A Special Mention in the same category was given to Stephan-Flint Muller for his short BOW-TIE DUTY FOR SQUARE HEADS (FLIEGENPFLICHT FUER QUADRATKOEPFE).

 

MANEGE FREI by Ljubisa Djukic received a Special Mention in the competition for the „New media - Shorts made for the Internet“ section.

 

A Special Mention was also given to MEETING ME by Angela Steffen in the competition for the best graduate film.
