JAN OLE GERSTER IN COMPETITION IN KARLOVY VARY

LARA by Jan Ole Gerster has been programmed as the German entry in the Main Competition of the popular summer festival. The 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place from 28 June to 6 July, 2019. A total of 15 German films and co-productions can be seen at the festival in Karlovy Vary.

The drama LARA by Jan Ole Gerster will have its world premiere in the Competition of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. Gerster's follow-up to his successful tragicomedy A COFFEE IN BERLIN sees Corinna Harfouch as a 60-year-old woman trying to re-establish contact with her son, a pianist. But the musician, played by Tom Schilling, is about to play an important concert.

SYSTEM CRASHER by Nora Fingscheidt can be seen in the Horizons sidebar. The emotional drama had already provided many interesting topics for discussion during the Berlinale and will have been presented shortly beforehand in the Focus Germany in Shanghai. HEIMAT IS A SPACE IN TIME by Thomas Heise (DE/AT, ma.ja.de. Filmproduktion) will be shown in the Imagina sidebar. The director explores the history of his family through letters from the past. The letters, which he reads himself, are accompanied by associative images.

The festival and European Film Promotion will be presenting young European filmmakers in the Future Frames section of the programme. Two productions from the HFF Munich will be shown here: THE LAST CHILDREN IN PARADISE by Anna Roller and TOUCH ME by Eileen Byrne (DE/LU, Südhang Films, HFF Munich).
