German winners at several international festivals

Isabelle Stever – for her film GISELA – received the Crossing Europe Award 2006 as winner of the European Cinema competition at the third Crossing Europe Film Festival in Linz (25 - 30 April 2006). The Ray-Audience Prize was awarded to the German-Macedonian coproduction KONTAKT by Sergej Stanojkovski.


A number of German films beat off competition from the many international participants to win prizes at the 39th WorldFest Houston (21 - 30 April 2006). These included Christopher Buchholz winning the Platinum Remi Award for his documentary HORST BUCHHOLZ… MY PAPA! (HORST BUCHHOLZ… MEIN PAPA!)and Till Endemann for his feature film MOONLANDING, PROJEKTIONEN which won a Golden Remi Award as well as the shorts FOTOSYNTHESE and GAME OVER which each received the festival's Silver Remi Award. A Bronze Remi Award was given to the shortfilm productions DANGEROUS ANIMAL and JUST A SMILE (NUR EIN LAECHELN). Sergej Stanojkovski's German-Macedonian coproduction KONTAKT received the Special Gold Jury Remi Award at this year's festival.


At the awards ceremony for this year's Rose d’or Television Festival (25 - 30 April 2006), the German telenovela VERLIEBT IN BERLIN picked up two prizes: for Best Soap and lead actress Alexandra Neldel for Best Actress in a Soap. Bastian Pastewka took home a prize for Best Actor in a Sitcom, and his comedy series PASTEWKA was moreover awarded the festival's Press Prize for the most innovative program.


The Cyprus International Film Festival (24 - 27 March 2006) was held for the first time this year. Angelina Maccarone's social drama UNVEILED (FREMDE HAUT) made such an impact that it came away with three prizes. UNVEILED received the Golden Aphrodite Award for Best Film, Angelina Maccarone picking up the prize for Best Director and lead actress Jasmin Tabatabei the prize for Best Actress.
