German Films allocates Euros 146.500 for theatrical release of nine German films abroad

At the year's last session held on 12 December 2005, the funding committee granted "Distribution Support" for the theatrical release of another nine German films abroad.

The committee decided to grant support for the following films:

* BIBI BLOCKSBERG AND THE SECRET OF THE BLUE OWLS (BIBI BLOCKSBERG UND DAS GEHEIMNIS DER BLAUEN EULEN) in Russia

* FRATRICIDE (BRUDERMORD) in France

* CROSSING THE BRIDGE in Great Britain

* INTO GREAT SILENCE (DIE GROSSE STILLE) in Switzerland

* THE CAVE OF THE YELLOW DOG (DIE HOEHLE DES GELBEN HUNDES) in France

* KEBAB CONNECTION in France

* THE NINTH DAY (DER NEUNTE TAG) in the Czech Republic

* RHYTHM IS IT! in Poland

* THE FOREST FOR THE TREES (DER WALD VOR LAUTER BAEUMEN) in the USA

 

For the first time, the maximum support of Euros 50.000 was awarded for the theatrical release of THE CAVE OF THE YELLOW DOG (DIE HOEHLE DES GELBEN HUNDES) in France.

 

The "Distribution Support" program of German Films has only been in existence since this year. The funding is granted for the financing of additional measures on top of the release campaign which has already been planned by foreign distributors. The funding is awarded in the form of a conditionally repayable loan, funding amounts of up to Euros 10,000 can also be awarded as grants.
