German Films allocates € 69,000 funding for theatrical releases of German films abroad

In the sixth sitting of 2010, the "Distribution Support" awards committee met on October 26 to fund seven foreign theatrical campaigns of German films with a total of € 54,000. Another two theatrical releases were awarded € 15000 in a further decision.

The committee decided to support the following films:

  • CLARA (GELIEBTE CLARA) in South Korea
  • WHEN WE LEAVE (DIE FREMDE) in the USA
  • JEW SUSS: RISE AND FALL (JUD SUESS - FILM OHNE GEWISSEN) in Sweden
  • THE LAST NICE DAY OF AUTUMN (DER LETZTE SCHÖNE HERBSTTAG) in Switzerland
  • LIFE, ABOVE ALL in France
  • SHAHADA in France
  • SOUL KITCHEN in Japan
  • VINCENT WANTS TO SEA (VINCENT WILL MEER) in Israel
  • DESERT FLOWER (WÜSTENBLUME) in Israel

The "Distribution Support" funding program has existed since 2005 and supports the theatrical release of German films abroad. Subsidies are awarded for additional measures over and above the release campaign which had already been planned by the foreign distributors. The support to a maximum of Euros 50,000 is granted in the form of a conditionally repayable loan. Funding of up to Euros 10,000 can also be allocated as a grant.
