German Films allocates € 170,500 funding for theatrical releases of German films abroad

In the first sitting of 2009, the „Distribution Support“ awards committee met on May 4 to fund nine foreign theatrical campaigns of German films with a total of € 83,500. In addition, another € 87,000 was awarded for another six theatrical releases.

The committee decided to support the following films:

EVERYONE ELSE (ALLE ANDEREN) in Switzerland

A WOMAN IN BERLIN (ANONYMA – EINE FRAU IN BERLIN) in Poland

THE EDGE OF HEAVEN (AUF DER ANDEREN SEITE) in Argentina

THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX (DER BAADER-MEINHOF KOMPLEX) in Spain

BEAUTIFUL BITCH in Estonia

BERLIN CALLING in Poland

EMMA'S BLISS (EMMAS GLUECK) in Denmark

CLARA (GELIEBTE CLARA) in France and Japan

JERICHOW in France and the USA

RABBIT WITHOUT EARS (KEINOHRHASEN) in Spain

LISSI AND THE WILD EMPEROR (LISSI UND DER WILDE KAISER) in Portugal

PALERMO SHOOTING in Bulgaria

 

The "Distribution Support" funding program has existed since 2005 and supports the theatrical release of German films abroad. Subsidies are awarded for additional measures over and above the release campaign which had already been planned by the foreign distributors. The support to a maximum of Euros 50,000 is granted in the the form of a conditionally repayable loan. Funding of up Euros 10,000 can also be allocated as a grant.
