Five German films at Tribeca Film Festival

A total of five German films are being shown at the 3rd Tribeca Film Festival in New York from May 1-9, 2004.

Two films from Germany can be seen in the two international competitive sections for documentaries: JAMES BENNING - CIRCLING THE IMAGE by Reinhard Wulff and RHYTHM IS IT! by Thomas Grube and Enrique Sanchez Lansch.

The festival's International Showcase will present the feature film GUN-SHY by Dito Tsintsadze.

In addition, there will be two short films from Germany: HOCHBETRIEB by Andreas Krein and QUITS by Christoph Heckenbücker.

The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff to contribute to the promotion of New York as a film metropolis after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and to support the long-term plans for the reconstruction of Manhattan.

Peter Scarlett took over the artistic direction of the festival in 2003, his programme being very successful with both the New York audience and the critics.

The festival is a place where young and renowned filmmakers from the whole world can meet with filmmakers from New York. This year will see more than 150 documentaries and feature films and 100 shorts being shown.
