CRITICS' CHOICE AWARD FOR IN THE FADE

Another triumph for the German Oscar® entry IN THE FADE (DE/FR, bombero international, Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, corazón international) in the USA: after winning the Golden Globe®, the film by Fatih Akin also received a Critics’ Choice Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category on Thursday evening.

The Critics' Choice Awards are regarded as an important prize from critics for films and TV series. The winners are decided by more than 300 members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association in the USA and Canada. The 23rd awards ceremony was held in Santa Monica.

IN THE FADE, with Diane Kruger in the lead, is also on the shortlist of the last nine films in the Best Foreign Language Feature category for the 90th Oscars®. The nominations will be announced on 23 January 2018.

About the film:

Katja's life suddenly implodes: her husband and son die in a bomb attack. The police arrest two suspects: a young neo-Nazi couple. Katja wants justice – for her, there is no alternative.

IN THE FADE is a production of bombero international and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, in co-production with corazón international and France's Macassar Productions and Pathé. Backing came from Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH), the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Federal Film Board (FFA).

IN THE FADE had its world premiere in competition at the 70th Festival de Cannes where lead actress Diane Kruger was named Best Actress. This was followed by screenings at such leading festivals as Sydney, Moscow and Karlovy Vary, Toronto, Busan, Chicago or AFI Fest L.A. The film by Fatih Akin has been sold by the sales agent The Match Factory to more than 30 countries. It has been screening in US cinemas since 27 December 2017.
