European Film Promotion's (EFP) networking platform PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE has invited promising young European producers to Cannes for the 18th time this year. After being nominated by the EFP member organization German Films, Verena Gräfe-Höft (JUNAFILM) was selected as a participant from Germany. In total, 20 producers from various European countries will be introducing themselves to colleagues and forging international contacts from 19 - 23 May 2017 during the Festival de Cannes.

Verena Gräfe-Höft worked as a freelance journalist for various radio and TV stations before graduating in Creative Producing at the Hamburg Media School in 2008. In 2009, she founded her own production company JUNAFILM and has since been producing feature films with such burgeoning talents as Kathrin Gebbe (NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN - world premiere in Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes in 2013), Ask Hasselbalch (ANTBOY 2 & 3) and Àsa Hjörleifsdottír (THE SWAN). She is currently developing new feature projects with Michael Venus and Kathrin Gebbe.

The goal of the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE program is to support the networking among European producers as well as give them the opportunity to build on their international experience and forge new contacts for future projects. The five-day event in Cannes includes roundtable pitching sessions, 1:1 speed dating meetings, case studies on successful projects, and various opportunities for discussions across borders.

Two of the most important criteria needed to qualify as a PRODUCER ON THE MOVE are previous international experience on co-productions and the theatrical release of a produced film outside of one's home territory. Each year sees a number of international co-productions coming about as a result of the programme, either between the participants or with partners they met during the project. Former PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE are involved in a total of three films screening in the Competition of this year's Festival de Cannes.

PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE is supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union as well as by the EFP member organisations, including German Films.
