| GERMAN WORLD PREMIERES IN TORONTO |

Robert Schwentke, Wim Wenders, Fatih Akin, Jan Zabeil, Valeska Grisebach, Baran bo Odar, Hüseyin Tabak, Sonja Maria Kröner – this year's Toronto International Film Festival (7 – 17 September 2017) will see a number of German filmmakers celebrating world or North American premieres. No less than four titles will be screening in the prestigious line-up of Special Presentations. Two stars from the FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS campaign – Alexander Fehling and Louis Hofmann – can be seen in three films. Overall, 42 German films and co-productions will screen in the leading festival in North America – more than ever before. German Films will have a presence there with a stand in the Industry Area.

| IN THE FADE IS THE GERMAN OSCAR® SUBMISSION |

The feature film IN THE FADE by Fatih Akin (DE/FR, bombero international, Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, corazón international) will represent Germany as the official submission for the 90th Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film. This has been decided by an independent jury appointed by German Films. Jury representative Rainer Matsutani (German Directors Guild) announced the decision at a press presentation in Munich in the presence of the director Fatih Akin. A total of eleven films were submitted for the selection process.
