Lars Becker was born in Hannover in 1954. He studied Film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg and graduated in 1986. Since then, he has worked as a writer and director. He published two crime novels, Kalte Sonne and Amigo, and directed his first feature film, Schattenboxer, in 1992. In 1994, he was awarded the Otto Sprenger Prize for his collected works. His films include: Kalte Sonne 1988, TV, Africa Around the Corner (Afrika um die Ecke, documentary, 1990), Chattenboxer (1992), Bunte Hunde (1995), Landgang fuer Ringo (1996), Das Gelbe vom Ei (1998), Kanak Attack (1999), and Rette Deine Haut (TV, 2002).
