Markus Wambsganss was born in 1974 in Landau and studied Media Arts at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. His films have been screened at numerous festivals worldwide and received awards and nominations at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the Venice Film Festival.

A selection of his films and music videos includes: Anti-Pop Consortium: Perpendicular/Vector (2002), Neon Eyes (2003), Hymie's Basement: Lightning Bolts and Man Hands (2004), Liars: By Your Side (2005), Jamie Lidell: What's the Use?, and The Gift (2006).
