Sibylle Tiedemann was born in 1951 in New Ulm. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel and at the German Film & Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. Since 1986, she has been working as a director, writer and producer for feature and documentary films. A selection of her films includes: Aqua Maria (short, 1983), Es war ganz einfach (1986), La Colonna Sonora (TV documentary, 1988-1990), Lautlinie (documentary, 1992), Frauen sind keine Maenner (documentary, 1994), Jazzfocus (documentary, 1994), Genius Loci (documentary, 1996), Kinderland ist abgebrannt (1998, German Film Award), Vom Schloss zur Huette (portrait, 1999), Verraeter der Nation (TV documentary, 2000), Hainsfarth hatte einen Rabbi (TV documentary, 2001), and Estonia Mon Amour (Estland Mon Amour, documentary, 2004).
