Michael Hammon was born in South Africa in 1955 and graduated with a degree in Painting and Photography from the University of Cape Town in 1978. He worked as a news cameraman before attending the German Film & Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin from 1985-1991. He has worked as a DoP for numerous film and TV productions for directors such as Andreas Dresen, Yesim Ustaoglu, Claudia Garde, Pepe Danquart and Werner Schweizer, and began directing his own films in 1986. His films include: WHEELS AND DEALS (1991), HILLBROW KIDS (co-directed with Jacqueline Görgen), and GOLD – YOU CAN DO MORE THAN YOU THINK (2013).
