Die Healthy (Sterben ist gesuender)

Die Healthy

Hugo Wallner doesn't think of anything bad when he starts coughing one day. But the specialist's diagnosis is lung cancer. Life expectancy: about three months. He gets over the shock about his fatal illness much quicker than his concern about the future of his family. He decides to withhold the news of his approaching death from them. He is all the more surprised when he is visited two weeks later by a man who is well informed about his symptoms. Mosbacher says that so many people take their fears about providing for their family to the grave. Consequently, he offers Wallner a well-paid management position in his own company where most of the business though is handled by himself and his partners. The company and naturally Wallner's heirs would profit from his death. Wallner agrees after some hesitation: he wants to enjoy life with this new income. He travels to Egypt with his wife, meets a specialist for pneumology there who examines him and diagnoses that Wallner isn't ill at all. But Mosbacher's partners are already reckoning with his speedy demise...
