Gordian Maugg was born in 1966 in Heidelberg and studied Visual Communication (Feature & Documentary Film) in Kassel from 1987-1993. He founded his own production company in 1994 and won several prizes for his feature debut The Olympic Summer (Der Olympische Sommer, 1993), inclduing the German Film Award in Silver, 1993, the Jury's Grand Prix and CICAE Prize at the 1993 European First Film Festival in Angers as well as Best Full-Length Film and Jury Grand Prix at Kiev. His other films include: Gregor oder die zwei Seelen in der Brust des Zwillings unter besonderer Beruecksichtigung des Aszendenten Loewe (short, 1990), The Caucasian Night (Die kaukasische Nacht, 1996), Hans Warns – My 20th Century (Hans Warns – Mein 20. Jahrhundert, 2000), Ingredients for Dreams (Zutaten fuer Traeume, 2001), and Zeppelin! (2005).
