René Marik was born in 1970 in Hildesheim. In 1993 he started studying Mathematics and joined a punk rock band. In 1995 he became a professional puppeteer at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, where he graduated with a degree in Puppeteering. He then worked as an actor in theater companies in Jena, Halle and Berlin. During his time in Jena, he created several famous hand-puppets and began developing scenes with them and performing in front of an audience and become one of Germany's most beloved comedians with his own TV show and sold-out tours. PUPPET FICTION is his directorial debut.
