Hendrik Hölzemann was born in 1976 and studied at the Film Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg. During his studies, he wrote the screenplays to and directed three short: Die Entfernung ist Null (1998), Lloyd auf dem Weg ins Tal (1998), and Dreckskerle (1999). He also wrote the screenplay to No Regrets (Nichts Bereuen, dir. Benjamin Quabeck). In 1999, he founded the production company Panic Pictures. The screenplay for his feature debut and graduation film Off Beat (Kammerflimmern, 2004) resulted as a product of his seven-month stay in Australia.
