Gabriel Gauchet was born in 1978 in Lorient/France. From 1999-2003 he studied African Studies in Hamburg and Dakar/Senegal, followed by Film studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. He also studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television (EICTV) in Havana. His films have been screened at over 660 international film festivals. His films include: When I Shot the Kankouran (2003), When Football is Painting (2005), Die Kneipe (2006, co-directed with Andrzej Król), and Efecto Dominó (2010).
