Johann Feindt was born in Hamburg in 1951. After studying Medicine in Hamburg, he enrolled at the German Academy of Film & Television (dffb) in Berlin. Since 1979, he has been working as a cameraman, director and author. A selection of his award-winning films as a director includes: Unversoehnliche Erinnerungen (1979), Der Versuch zu leben (1983), Der schwarze Kasten (1991), Mein Freund, der Minister (1998), Kriegssplitter - Kosovo (1999), Sebnitz - Die perfekte Story (2002), Reporter vermisst (2003), and Weisse Raben (2005).
