Peter Timm was born in East Germany in 1950. In 1969, he began studies at the East Berlin Drama School. In 1976, he moved to Frankfurt and started working as a writer, actor and director. In 1981, he wrote the screenplay for the award-winning Meier, which he filmed four years later. His other films include: Fifty Fifty (1988), Go, Trabi, Go (1991), Manta - der Film (1991), Pauline In Between (Ein Mann fuer jede Tonart, 1992), Simply Love (Einfach nur Liebe, 1993), Rudy, The Racing Pig (Rennschwein Rudi Ruessel, 1995), The Cleaning Ladies Island (Die Putzfraueninsel, 1996), Dumm gelaufen (1996), Ferkel Fritz (TV, 1997), Millennium Love (TV, 1998), Der Zimmerspringbrunnen (2001), Familie XXL (2002), My Brother is a Dog (Mein Bruder ist ein Hund, 2004), Rudy - The Return of the Racing Pig (Rennschwein Rudi Ruessel 2, 2006), and Beloved Berlin Wall (Liebe Mauer, 2009).
