Jobst Christian Oetzmann was born in Hanover and studied drama at the University of Television & Film in Munich. His first film, Der Condor opened the Turin Film Festival in 1988. Since then he has made a name for himself primarily as a director of television crime movies, including episodes of SOKO 5133 (1994) and the pilot to the series SK-Babies (1995). A year later he directed Der Neue, the pilot for the crime series Kommissare Suedwest, for which he also directed numerous episodes. His features include: The Loneliness of the Crocodiles (Die Einsamkeit der Krokodile, 2000) and Coxless Pair (Zweier ohne, 2008).
