Pierre Franckh started his acting career at the age of six. He continued to act, even while at school, notching up performances in Shakespeare's Macbeth and Goethe's Faust at the prestigious Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel theater. He made his first film appearance in 1958 and since then has continued to work on the stage (with residencies in Munich, Berlin's Renaissance Theater, Stuttgart and Frankfurt), before the film cameras and has featured in over two hundred television productions. Among his credits in the last two years are the German Film Award-winning The Deathmaker (Der Totmacher, 1995, director Romuald Karmakar) and Frankfurt Millennium (Frankfurter Kreuz, 1997, director Romuald Karmakar). Just The Beginning is Franckh's directorial debut.
