After the death of his grandmother, nobody is there to care for 9-year-old Roman. His mother Oksana works illegally in Germany caring for an old lady. Roman travels after her, surmounting the border controls, but Oksana is not alone. She lives with the lady's widower, Schwarz. His apartment becomes Roman's new home. A dramatic triangle starts, driven by jealousy and love. Then Oksana falls ill and is taken to a hospital. Schwarz flees immediately, taking the child to a remote summer home. The two cautiously start coming to terms with each other and after teaching him to shoot with a gun, Schwarz earns Roman’s wary affection. In the middle of a game, Schwarz suffers a heart attack and dies. Roman is trapped in a place with no escape and a corpse.
