ZERO KILLED

ZERO KILLED

Since 1996, film director Michal Kosakowski has been asking people with different backgrounds about their murder fantasies. He offered them the chance to stage their fantasies as short films. The only condition was that they had to act in these films themselves, either as victims or perpetrators. More than a decade later, Kosakowski met these people again to ask them about their emotions during their acts of murder or victimization, and interviewed them about current social topics such as revenge, torture, war, terrorism, media, domestic violence, the death penalty, suicide etc. The result is an unconventional hybrid of feature film and documentary that makes viewers question their personal and social positions concerning ethical and moral values and taboos.

Michal Kosakowski was born in 1975 in Szczecin/Poland. Active as a director, writer, producer, director of photography and editor of numerous short and experimental films, documentaries and video installations, his work includes more than 70 films, many of which have been shown at international festivals and exhibitions and have received numerous awards. He founded his own production company while studying at the Vienna Film Academy and followed this with collaborations with Oliviero Toscani and work as a film editor. From 2008-2011, he was also an instructor for Experimental Film & the Theory of Filmmaking at the Media Design Academy in Munich. A selection of his films includes: HOLY WAR (doc, 1999), SLEEPERS (short, 2002), GIPSY EXPRESS (short doc, 2002, WAIT A MINUTE (short, 2004), JUST LIKE THE MOVIES (short, 2006), FORTYNINE (video installation, 2007), THE HEART OF IT (doc, 2010), DEEP WATER HORIZON (short, 2010), ZERO KILLED (docu-fiction, 2011), and GERMAN ANGST (2015).
