THE RUNAWAY tells the story of an unexpected fatherhood. On his way to an interview, Walter runs into six-year-old Yuri, who claims to be Walter's son and demands that Walter take him to school. In order to clarify the situation and get Yuri off his back, Walter goes to find Kathrin, Yuri's mother, with whom he really did have a wild affair a few years back. However, Kathrin is nowhere to be found...


Ulrike Grote studied Acting from 1985-1989 in Hamburg. She performed as an actress at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg and in numerous television series and films. Since 2000, she has been instructing at the Academy of Music & Theater in Hamburg. From 2002-2004, she completed post-graduate studies in Film at Hamburg University, and is now preparing her first feature film. Her film The Runaway (Ausreisser) was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2006 in the category Short Film - Live Action.
