Francis

Francis Klein left Germany six years ago to live and work in New York. She is young, talented and ambitious and is successful in her profession as a TV journalist. She lives in Manhattan together with Kal Brandon, an eccentric, attractive painter. When the news reaches Francis one day that her former best girlfriend Mara Stolz, with whom she had been close since their childhood, has attempted to commit suicide, old, deep wounds from the past open up within her. She spontaneously books a flight to Germany. But she arrives too late. Mara takes her life in front of the very train Francis is sitting in on the way to Rheinstadt. Completely in shock, Francis experiences the funeral and the days following as if in a nightmare, obsessed by the question as to why Mara killed herself. In the search for answers, she is drawn ever deeper into the swirl of her own past....
