KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR

KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR

Rudy and Martin meet in a clinic's terminal ward. The doctors have already written them both off - there's only a little time left now. When Martin hears that Rudy has never been to the seaside, he persuades him to set off there immediately. "Because everyone in heaven goes on about the sea and how wonderful it is. And if you have never been there, then you'll just sit there and won't be able to join in." A wild, exciting journey begins, one they could actually call the journey of their lives - if it wasn't their last one. They are soon being chased by some hired killers and hunted by the police. But what does it matter? As each day passes, they get a bit nearer to the coast.

Thomas Jahn was born in Hueckelhoven/Hilfarth in 1965 and made his first Super 8 films at the age of 12. He wrote his first screenplay, Die Todesinsel der Zombies, a year later and made his first feature, Von Zeit zu Zeit, in 1993, acting as his own screenwriter, producer and cameraman as well as taking on the directing chores. His Knockin' On Heaven's Door, starring Til Schweiger and Jan Josef Liefers, was the top German film in 1997 with 3.6 million admissions. After his third feature, Kai Rabe vs. The Vatican Killers (Kai Rabe gegen die Vatikankiller, 1998), he shot Herzbeben - Die Nacht, die alles veraenderte (TV, 1998) and Herz und Nieren (2002).
