In 1972 the artist Otto Muehl founded the Friedrichshof, a commune for like-minded artists and friends, outside of Vienna. Here he hoped to raise children that were "unspoiled from the nuclear family", a new human breed. Setting out as a free collective, the social experiment soon turned into a totalitarian system with Otto Muehl at its head. Twenty years later, Muehl was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison. Through the eyes of these children, the film looks back at the commune and examines what became of the children of this utopia.
