Julian, Yasin and Addi are brothers – or half brothers, to be more precise. The three diametrically opposed bros learn from the notary that their mother has passed away. Tough luck, they think, but just as they're about to leave they find out there’s a comfortable, well-hidden inheritance which they will only get if they all pull together as a team.

God knows you can always use money, whether it’s to finally free yourself from the shadow of a wealthy adoptive father, to launch a big hip hop career or just to get rid of the annoying pink debt collector bunny. The three must thrash out their differences while on a road trip of unknown destination. Their journey takes them from Berlin via Frankfurt and Cologne up to the northern island of Fehmarn. In the course of this scavenger hunt they end up in the claws of a drug-dealing grandma, a vengeful payment collector and a mysterious beauty. Their biological fathers, whom they meet on the trip, bring them closer to the hoped-for inheritance, but also to the verge of madness. The half brothers realize that they will only reach their goal if they pull together as a family.

With HALF BROTHERS, director Christian Alvart (ANTIBODIES, CASE 39, BANKLADY) delivers a road trip that’s as adventurous as witty, and in which the three leads Fahri Yardim (ALMANYA, THE PHYSICIAN), YouTube star Tedros Teclebrhan and German scandal rapper Paul “Sido” Würdig try to outdo each other in wry and wacky dialogues and hilarious situation comedy.

Christian Alvart was born in 1974. He never attended film school, yet – self-taught – he still managed to make the leap to becoming a director. After teaching himself the craft in various assistant positions, he founded his production company Syrreal Entertainment in 1997 in Berlin. In 1999, he made his feature film debut with CURIOSITY & THE CAT, which was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize. After his second feature film ANTIBODIES (2005), he moved to Hollywood, where he was able to prove his passion for genre films on a grand scale. For Paramount, he directed horror-thriller FALL 39 (2007), followed by the sci-fi thriller PANDORUM (2008). Back in Germany, Alvart worked as a director for the TATORT series and was hired as the director for the Hamburg episodes of the series featuring Til Schweiger. His thriller BANKLADY was released theatrically in 2013. In 2015, he directed the buddy-comedy HALF BROTHERS followed by the TATORT feature film TSCHILLER - OFF DUTY in 2016. He also serves as showrunner for the Netflix series DOGS OF BERLIN. His production company has acquired the worldwide rights for CAPTAIN FUTURE and is working on a live-action version of the series.
