Greedy (Gierig)

Greedy

Berlin in the spring of the nineties, a tragic love story: the young reporter Natascha starts an affair with the boxer Sugar. They fall in love, but Natascha doesn't want to admit this to herself or to Sugar: her self-doubts, her fear of risks and a common past bind her to the alternative artist and bar-owner Gary - who lives with her for similar reasons. The fragile construct of relationships collapses when Gary learns that he is dangerously ill.

Oskar Roehler started his career as a screenwriter for various cinema films and directed his first feature, GENTLEMAN, in 1995. His film NO PLACE TO GO (2000), a very personal and sensitively told portrait of his mother, was Roehler’s breakthrough and received the German Film Award in Gold. His other award-winning films include: ANGST (2003) which premiered in the competition at the Berlinale in 2003, AGNES AND HIS BROTHERS (2004) which screened at the Venice Film Festival, as well as his film adaptation of Michel Houellebecq’s novel ATOMISED (2006). JUD SÜSS - FILM OHNE GEWISSEN (2010) which also played in competition at the Berlinale was one of his most polarizing films. After SOURCES OF LIFE (2012) which premiered in Karlovy Vary in competition, OUTMASTERED is his latest film.
