Fatal Affair, A (Ein Toedliches Verhaeltnis)

Fatal Affair, A

Ben and Jenny, a young couple, could be perfectly happy. But the facade of feigned friendliness conceals an unhappy relationship which is not only the result of an unintentional childlessness. When the attractive Lisa moves into the flat next door, Jenny hopes for a change to her sad routine and practically imposes herself on the new woman. A friendship between the two women soon develops. Brief flashbacks reveal the nightmarish past of a little girl: a magnificent tree in whose branches the girl seeks shelter from her violent father. Which of the two women is being tormented by these memories from the past? Jenny, trusting and naive, en-courages Ben to open up to Lisa. Lisa, who recognises the couple's unfulfilled longings, tries to snatch Jenny's husband away. With success. However, Ben really only loves his wife. In order to save his marriage he escapes away with Jenny who doesn't know anything about the affair. Lisa is already waiting for them to return. And the disaster takes its course...
