Sections a) The International Competition, open only to films that fit the theme “new perspectives in cinema”;
b) Turkish Cinema 2018-2019, which includes the subsections National Competition, National Documentary Competition, and National Short Film Competition;
d) Non-competitive, informative sections. Fiction features and documentaries can be selected for these sections.
e) Thematic sections.
Terms of Entry Films for the main competition should provide new perspectives. Short films (running time under 60 min.) are not considered (except documentaries). Feature films and documentaries will not be considered for the program if they are already released or shown at a public screening in Turkey. Turkish premiers preferred. For the international competition, films must be produced in after 01 January 2018. Accepted submision material: DVD (PAL or NTSC) or online links (no time or IP restrictions).

Participants of the Film Industry around 50 Turkish buyers from TV, video, theatres and distribution companies. The second week of the Istanbul Film Festival is recognised as the international accreditation period. The International and national competitions take place during the second half of the Festival and the Festivals hosts approximately 200 – 250 guests from all over the world every year.

Evaluation The festival has a high standard of film culture and gets widespread coverage in the national media. It is very well attended by the public and is a good platform for testing foreign films. The extensive program consists of various sections and also offers a good survey of the year's production in Turkey. The Meetings on the Bridge attract international industry representatives interested in discovering projects from the region.
Services Shipment costs of the prints for both ways will be paid by the Festival only if the prints are sent from and returned to their sources. In case the print is shared with another festival, the Festival will pay for the return transportation charges only. Storage, customs, insurance and handling charges in Turkey are covered by the Istanbul Film Festival.
Electronic subtitles in Turkish are prepared by the Festival for all non-Turkish language films.
