Evaluation The Tribeca Film Festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Martin Scorsese and Craig Hatkoff to celebrate New York City as a major filmmaking capital and to contribute to the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
In the meantime the festival has established itself as one of the important public audience festivals in New York focusing on innovative formats and storytelling across all medium and platforms that go beyond the big screen. The festival curates innovative and interactive experiences and introduces new technology and ideas through panels, premieres, exhibitions and live performance. In 2021 the festival will take place in a hybrid edition offering physical screenings and virtual premieres.
