Evaluation Karlovy Vary is the leading competition film festival in Central and Eastern Europe with large, mostly young audience that is famous for its enthusiastic commitment. Many scouts of other international festivals attend the event. A number of films are bought by international buyers and Czech distributors. The section "East of the West" is a must for foreign journalists and participants of the film industry. The festival has included "Variety's Ten European Directors To Watch", a selection of ten European films chosen by the critics of the prestigious film magazine. The section is organized and intensively promoted by the European Film Promotion (EFP).
Strong presence of the Eastern European mass media and film industry and many journalists from Western Europe who are interested in Eastern European cinema. Thanks to an easy and very friendly atmosphere good possibilities for meetings and networking.
