LATIN LOVER

On her Mediterranean holiday, Anna, a young woman in her late twenties, has a short but steamy affair with Carlos. She returns home to Munich where her husband, Frank, an up-and-coming architect is immersed, as always, in his work. Their marriage is headed for the proverbial rocks. Still, Anna tries as best she can to rekindle the love they once had for each other. Then Carlos shows up in town. She wants him to get out of her life but he refuses. Anna succumbs to his charms once again. By the time she decides to stop and save her marriage, Frank has already found out. Instead of forgiving her, he drives her back into Carlos' arms. Then Anna finds out she's pregnant and Frank is the father. She tries one last time to save the situation but Frank goes ballistic. She heads south to begin a new life with Carlos. Frank finally realizes what he has lost and - to hell with his career - goes after her, intent on winning her back. Now Anna can't bring herself to forgive him. And Carlos doesn't want to lose her. But Frank is determined and just won't give up. Anna has to make the most difficult choice of her life ...
Oskar Roehler was born in 1959 in Starnberg, the son of husband and wife authors, Gisela Elsner and Klaus Roehler. He started his career as a screenwriter of various cinema films and directed his first feature GENTLEMAN in 1995. His film NO PLACE TO GO (DIE UNBERÜHRBARE, 2000), a very personal and sensitively told portrait of his mother, was Roehler's breakthrough. His other award-winning films include: ANGST (DER ALTE AFFE ANGST) which was in the competition at the Berlinale in 2003, AGNES AND HIS BROTHERS (AGNES UND SEINE BRÜDER) which screened in Venice, his film adaptation of Michel Houellebecq's novel of the same name ATOMISED (ELEMENTARTEILCHEN, 2006), LULU & JIMI (2008), JUD SÜSS - FILM OHNE GEWISSEN (2010), and ROOTS OF LIFE (DIE QUELLEN DES LEBENS, 2012).
