Our Island in the South Pacific (Suedsee, eigene Insel)
Albert is a successful, upwardly-mobile young executive. He seems to have everything it takes: an attractive wife, a pretty daughter, good friends and a smart home in the leafy suburbs. When Albert falls victim to an investment fraud, his idyll is destroyed overnight. He loses his money, his career prospects are up in smoke and, to add insult to injury, he discovers his neighbor and best friend at work has been scheming behind his back. Instead of departing for their holiday in the south Pacific, the family is forced to hide out in the cellar of their own house.
Thomas Bahmann was born in Munich in 1962 and studied in the feature film department at the Academy for Television & Film in Munich (HFF) from 1987-1991 and has worked as an independent author and director since 1991. His films are: Beim Drachensteigen (short, 1988), Musikvideo Seoul \'88 (1988), Humpf im Gruenen (short, 1989), Halt\'s Maul (co-dir with Anna Oeller, short, 1989), Der gute Kurt (graduation film, 1991), Kleiner Koenig Erich (TV, 1993), Coming In (TV, 1993) and Our Island In The South Pacific (Suedsee, eigene Insel, 1998).
