LIFE IS NOT FOR COWARDS (LEBEN IST NICHTS FÜR FEIGLINGE, DAS)

The life of the Färber family is completely unhinged after a bizarre accident leading to the mother’s death. While Markus clings onto the past and cannot come to terms with the loss of his wife, his fifteen-year-old daughter Kim runs away to Denmark with Alex, a cool guy who has dropped out of school, and visits the setting of her childhood. Together with his mother Gerlinde and her lively caretaker, Paula, Markus sets off to search for his daughter and so embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
André Erkau was born in Dortmund in 1968. While studying Psychology, he served as a directing intern at the Bremen Schauspielhaus. He then started acting and founded the Junge Theater in 1993 with other acting colleagues. He studied at the Hamburg Actors' Studio from 1994-1997 and then became a member of the ensemble at the Württembergische Landesbühne in Esslingen until 2001, followed by studies in Directing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). A selection of his films includes: DER COACH (short, 2004), 37 OHNE ZWIEBELN (short, 2006), his first feature SELBSTGESPRÄCHE (2007) which won the main prize at the Max Ophüls Festival in Saarbrücken, ARSCHKALT (2011), and LIFE IS NOT FOR COWARDS (DAS LEBEN IST NICHTS FÜR FEIGLINGE, 2012).
