THE 4TH REVOLUTION presents the truly thrilling vision of a world community with an energy supply that is derived entirely from renewable sources – accessible to everyone, affordable, clean and free of pollution. A global restructuring process, shifting the balance of power and distributing capital more fairly, is now within our reach – all we have to do is embark upon it!

For instance: the most energy-efficient office building in the world is located in Germany – it produces more energy than it consumes! Renewable energies are securing the livelihoods of families in Mali and Bangladesh, by means of carefully planned financing models. And alternative energy concepts are also revolutionizing the automotive industry, inspiring entirely new approaches to mobility.

Carl-A. Fechner and his team followed the actions of committed celebrities, and spoke with top managers, African mothers, bankers, and aspiring activists all over the world.

Carl-A. Fechner is a journalist, filmmaker and producer. Since 1989, he has been the managing director of fechnerMEDIA GmbH. He studied Media Education and received his diploma in 1980 for a research assignment on behalf of Deutsche Welle about media service in Least Developed Countries. Afterwards he was managing director of the theater Berliner Compagnie and worked for the ARD as a foreign correspondent. As head of the editorial department, he is responsible for the content and artistic realization of fechnerMEDIA films and media campaigns. A selection of his films includes: Iraq Trilogy (1990), Rethinking - From Disarmament to Shared Security (1993), The Billion Dollar Waste Deal (1994), Solar Architecture for Europe (1995), Power Out of the Sun - Biomass as a Source of Energy (1999), The Substance for the Future - Energy from Hydrogen (2000), Oceanic Power (2006), Wangari Maathai - Mother of the Trees (2008, co-directed by Alan Dater), and The 4th Revolution - Energy Autonomy (2010).
