Golden Globe for THE WHITE RIBBON (DAS WEISSE BAND)

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has awarded a Golden Globe in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category of the 67th Golden Globes to the feature film THE WHITE RIBBON (DAS WEISSE BAND) by Michael Haneke from among 69 submissions.

The production by X Filme Creative Pool/Berlin (producer: Stefan Arndt) in co-production with Wega Film/Vienna, Les Films du Losange/Paris and Lucky Red/Rome has attracted around 425,000 spectators into the cinemas in Germany and will be given a nationwide theatrical release by the US distributor Sony Pictures Classics in mid-February 2010.

THE WHITE RIBBON (DAS WEISSE BAND) is also in the OSCAR race for Germany as "Best Foreign Language Film" and is setting its sights on a nomination on February 2, 2010.

Christoph Waltz also received a Golden Globe in the „Best Supporting Actor“ category for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS by Quentin Tarantino (German producer: Zehnte Babelsberg Film, Potsdam).
