German shorts at the 2010 Clermont-Ferrand Festival

The 32nd Festival International du Court Métrage Clermont-Ferrand will be held from 29th January to 6th February, 2010. Eight German films have been invited this year to screen in the competitions of the world's most important short film festival. Two projects from Germany will be presented at the "Euro Connection“ co-production forum.

The International Competition will feature BETTY B. AND THE THE’S by Felix Stienz, DID MICHAEL KNIGHT END THE COLD WAR? by Stepan Altrichter (DE/CZ), FLY (FLIEGEN) by Piotr J. Lewandowski and EFECTO DOMINÓ by Gabriel Gauchet (CB/DE).

CONTRE-JOUR by Christoph Girardet and Matthias Mueller, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING by David OReilly, TOMORROW-YEAH! by Daniela Abke and ZEITRISS by Quimu Casalprim i Suárez can be seen in the Lab Competition for more experimental productions.

The short FULL EMPLOYMENT (ARBEIT FUER ALLE) by Thomas Oberlies and Matthias Vogel was selected for the thematic focus on Zombies, Vampires, and Other Undead.

BOB by Jacob Frey, FORMIC by Roman Kaelin and Florian Wittmann as well as LET THERE BE SOUND by Stefan J. Wuehr, Christian Lachenschmidt and Christian Scheck will be shown within the framework of the short film programs for chldren and young people.

After the promising premiere in 2009, the festival will be staging its co-production forum for European short film projects, Euro Connection, for the second time this year. Two projects from Germany - DAS HAUS by David Buob and LA ISLA DE LOS MUERTOS by Vuk Jevremovic - will be presented within this framework to potential European co-production partners.

The Clermont-Ferrand festival is one of the most important and popular meeting places for the international short film scene. Together with AG Kurzfilm and the ShortFilmAgency Hamburg, German Films will have a presence at the associated market and present the short film programmes Soirée Allemande and Matinée Allemande to the professional delegates.

The Soirée Allemande, a joint venture of the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, the Goethe Institut in Lyon, ShortFilmAgency Hamburg, AG Kurzfilm and German Films, will be shown in the months following as part of a tour through numerous French-speaking countries. The film selection will be announced in the coming week.
