Fifth Festival of German Films in Tokyo from 15th to 18th October 2009

The festival will be opened on 15th October with SOUL KITCHEN by Fatih Akin. The screenwriter and lead actor Adam Bousdoukos, the actress Pheline Roggan and the producer Klaus Maeck will be there in person to present their film to the audience.
Further films in the main programme for Tokyo are: HILDE by Kai Wessel, THE RED SPOT (DER ROTE PUNKT) by Marie Miyayama, BUDDENBROOKS by Heinrich Breloer, A YEAR AGO IN WINTER (IM WINTER EIN JAHR) by Caroline Link, GERMANY 09 (DEUTSCHLAND 09) and our short film program NEXT GENERATION 2009. On the occasion of our fifth anniversary, we will also be showing two films which had already been successfully released in Japan - MOSTLY MARTHA (BELLA MARTHA) by Sandra Nettelbeck and RUN LOLA RUN (LOLA RENNT) by Tom Tykwer - in a retrospective.
Apart from the aforementioned delegation for the opening film, the festival will also be attended by the directors Kai Wessel and Marie Miyayama, the producer Martin Blankemeyer and the cinematographer Gernot Roll to present their films in person.
German Films wil be organising a lunch with Japanese distributors for representatives of German world sales companies to inform their Japanese clients about their new films.
